The Ticonderoga Mill
Interactive Structural Mailer
This project was created for one of Trekk’s clients, International Paper, with the objective of educating IP’s customers on where their papers are made.
The client came to us with a form factor from Structural Graphics already in mind, and it was my task to make this 3-part, dimensional mailer make sense for the project.
My solution was to play on the almost other-worldly beauty of Adirondack State Park—where IP’s Ticonderoga Mill is located—by creating a visual direction informed by children’s storybook illustrations. Each of the mailer’s three segments was utilized to tell the story of Ticonderoga Mill, the forest it inhabits, and IP’s commitment to sustainability and stewardship of the land.
The addition of Augmented Reality added another layer of interactivity to the design and allowed us to cut down on the amount of written content needed by supplementing copy with informational videos.
To give this mailer some staying power, I added die-cut paper toys effectively turning this piece into a portable play-set for International Paper’s customers to give to the children in their lives. This addition provides another way to get the product into the hands of customers and thoughtfully makes use of the mailer’s form.
